Has anyone else been downgraded to 384 by MWEB without warning?

Possibly stuck until 6 October, maybe longer...

Nope. I'm still on 1Mbps.

I'm still waiting on Telkom to upgrade my line to 2Mbps.

Whenever I complain about line stability that is Telkom/Mwebs solution.

Don't know how many times I have had to call them, ask them to take my line speed up to where it belongs and fix the problem.

I migrated my line to Mweb. About a week later my connection got slow and very unstable.
It took me a while to get to the cause but it turns out that Mweb migrated me to 384 on their system until Telkom upgrades our lines.

So in other words Mweb changed their accounts system in anticipation of the upgrades. (No warning)

This has now become my problem because they are not offering any solutions other than having to wait for the never-never Telkom upgrade.

Left to my own devices, my only two options are to migrate line back to Telkom and apply for an upgrade or just move my account to Afrihost or Axxess or whatever..

Bloody hell mweb! Are they becoming to big / successful to care?

It sounds like Mweb downgraded you due to a possible fault, poor quality lines or oversubscription on the DSLAM? If it was working fine and then downgraded that would be weird.

No I was not guessing when is say that. MWEB confirmed that they downgraded me in anticipation of Telkom's upgrades.

I am not with mweb...

I think their planning stinks. I am sure they keep charging you all the higher rate too, unless they confirmed lower prices in writing...

Hi cobuss

I would like to look into this from our side. Please will you provide me more information via PM as well as the MWEB account details.

I got my "1mb" uncapped ADSL line activated yesterday. It is SO slow. average line test of 10kbps! After investigation I found out that they applied for a 384kbps line from telkom in anticipation of the telkom upgrade to 1mb!
So, I have to wait! They should advertise the line as Up to 384kbps and not 1mb as its impossible for me!!!
I called them, complained etc etc. HelloPeter and they dont give a ****.
I am cancelling as I am in the "cool off period" legaly and going with Afrihost I think. They can give me what I want. I dont mind paying a bit more if I get what I pay for!

I hear you, this is absolute nonsense...

I feel that at the very least MWEB should somehow compensate affected users.
