Hey Guys,

Heard a rumour from quite a good source on the weekend that HTC SA is 'closing shop', not sure how true it is. To add to this, I posed the question on their Facebook page, then I noticed there has been absolutely no communication from their official Twitter account as well as their Facebook page since the 30th September.

As someone who just recently got an HTC One, I'm worried about the impact this might have on the already bad customer support HTC SA has.

It could be just a delay on their social networks but I am sure if HTC was leaving the country, they would publically announce it. They should support the devices till a certain time though.

I was about to post a thread asking the same thing. I am due for a contract renewal with MTN and want an HTC phone. I have been checking the specials for the past 3 months and none of the 3 providers seem to be advertising any HTC phones where in the past there where tons! What is going on! The last HTC I saw advertised was the HTC one about a month or two ago but that is also now off the list.

Despite being the happy owner of an HTC One I will advise to look elsewhere when going for a new device. I don't use the same device for too long so I'm not too worried but when one device for 24 months is a must then HTC is not a wise choice now.

It's very sad news indeed, if this is true. I was so impressed with the build quality of the One S and had hopes of staying with the brand for my next phone as well. Now, it seems like popular yet poorly constructed brands are the only choice.

Vodacom is still selling the One and the Windows phone. That is it though, just those two models.

I loved my HTC Sensation but after 2 faulty phones I sold it and jumped on the Samsung boat. This was about a year and a half ago and even then it was a mission trying to find someone at HTC SA to help me with a warranty claim. There's a thread on here somewhere about that...

As a former HTC owner / Fan boy - the only reason i dont own one anymore is because they dont have no freaking communication and getting accessories is like pulling hens teeth.

I have been told so many times by MTN staff that HTC SA is closed, and you tell HTC this and they dont seem to care :wtf:
They killing their own reputation

My last three phones were HTC's, and I've haven't had a problem with any of them, so far I'm really happy my One, and I have no regrets in choosing the One over Samsung. But it would just be nice to know that if I ever do have a problem, at least I can get it sorted out.

I got my HTC One through MTN, waited about two weeks for it, but never got told that HTC SA is closed.

their offices and workshop that they had in Cedar Square have gone (long ago). Try finding replacement parts e.g. battery, major mission

I tried to get a replacement battery for my Desire S, one store owner just laughed when I asked if he stocked HTC parts (I tried at least 10 different stores to no avail)

for a while they had promotional stands up on a regular basis in Fourways Mall but I haven't seen one for over a year. If they're still here it must only be a small scale

I ordered two last year from a UK website, not too expensive

Last year I wanted the One X same as you I had to wait a few weeks for it, Just this year I went to numerous stores my wife wanted a Desire C or X (no one had stock of the c or X) and almost every MTN store said that HTC is no longer in the country :wtf: or they never received stock Found one store in the middle of nowhere had the C so got it.
I got a galaxy s4 recently never waited I wanted the One but got either no stock for weeks or the HTC is closed story - we even had a Rep here on MyBB that dude disappeared. I reported this to HTC via FB and here on MyBB and they dont bother responding - I know they are not closed down but they dont even bother addressing the issue or advertising, no wonder people beleive they closed down - so like i said they ruining their own reputation.

Any way for support / repairs HTC will send you to Regenesis - http://www.regenersis.com/locations/location/8#content-wrapper
