Hashim Amla

Everybody says Amla was crap.
After he got dropped he worked hard at his game and became a different player.

Not the 1st time someone made a comeback.

Actually he didnt change his technique in case you missed it.
He was dropped, got experience in tests then made it to ODI.

But his technique and style of batting didnt change.

Yes it has.

You can clearly see the difference of what I described above.

EDIT: I can't embed 2 videos in 1 post for some stupid reason, so the 2nd is only a link.

You are still carrying on? I gave you homework to dissect the 37 games AB opened. What happened?

Bugger off you clown. You obviously do not understand what stats are important in ODI games.

Amla is great now, wasnt always, but everything you say is devalued by the fact that you just want to praise the blacks. Then you wonder why no one respects you. If you want respect, learn humility and impartiality as your homework. I am guessing the dog will eat that.

so, in primary school I LIVED for cricket.
I remember gettting home to turn on the TV so I could see Polly bowl the first ball.
I remember the disappointment of Donald's run out more than I remember any break up hurting.

with all those memories are the random little things, the watermelon hats, the band playing in the crowd at PE
The atmosphere in castle corner. the Amla beards on fans.

so if Amla is not Great as some people are saying then why for the love of all that is holy did(do?) people do that?

sure his stats are amazing. some people are saying he does not have enough numbers backing him up or whatever. but just remember what Amla does. he Commands respect.
talk about Dale Stein, people refer to him as Dale.
same for FAF, AB and pretty much the entire team.
Talk about Amla and you use his last name, not because his first is too hard to say, but because we all respect the man.

that is my opinion at least.
sure I kinda lost the passion for the game. I followed loosely, and in the last 2 years I started watching again.

honestly I don't get what the hype around the individual is about.
the strength of the Proteas is not that AB can score quickly, or that 88% of the games Amla scores a 50 in we win. or that Dale can bowl the way he does (I actually have not seen the Hype around him I think Amot is better personal opinion).
The strength of the proteas is the fact that they are one team. one unit. from QDC to Philander all players give 110% all the time

wow you read all the way to the end? everyone knows I don't know anything whats wrong with you....

Who's fastest to 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 (soon 6000 runs) and 20 centuries?

You are still not proving the stats of those 37 innings....

So only Amla's technique etc was dissected so thoroughly that he had to improve in Tests before he could be allowed back into ODIs. Such a pity others weren't subjected to the same. We missed he trick here guys. That's a million dollar strategy. They'd be 60 avg ODI batsmen. ;)

Show us Amla's stats against the Aussies vs AB's.
Go look at my other posts where I revealed AB's stats against every Full Member nation (not just Aussies) and why he can't be a great as a result. Check it over at the AB thread. It's readily available ;)

I can only see the quotes of TrollOutkast's posts, but he seems to be missing the point - everybody likes Amla, and everybody except him likes AB. Why the hell would we want to prove either is better, since neither's position is even nearly under threat? We have 2 of the best ODI batsmen of the last decade in our midst, yet he's riling us up to argue over it - for what?

You guys are grossly guilty of reducing this to an AB vs Amla disucssion simply because you cant stand the fact that Amla is the superior batsman. Face it. He's miles ahead - in Tests&ODIs.

I'm not the one arguing. Check the thread properly. Guys came out with AB comments to steal Amla's thunder. I opened this thread and completely ignored AB's name. Besides, why would I meantion it when there's such a chasm between the two? To do that would be guilty of what guys here are guilty of - unfailry draging Amla up to his level, which is impossible to do without dragging a whole host of other players.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Without doubt the best batsmen in the land currently - that includes factoring in AB's bludgeoning of bowling attacks - and arguably the finest batsmen we have ever produced.

In global terms, again I have him down as the finest batsmen around at present.

i dont know how you guys argue like this, alllllllllllllllllllllllll the flippen time. First proteas v windies thread, then CWC thread, then AB thread and now an Amla thread... all about the same sh#t over n over again.

Amla is great.
AB is great.
They play for SA which is great.

They will become greats when their careers come to an end.

It's all TrollOutkast's fault. Which is why I've put him on ignore for now.

And I love both Amla and AB, they are different, and both are special in their own right.

There is another stat where Amla is far above any other ODI batsmen in history. Runs per innings ignoring not outs.

He averages 52 per innings at the moment if you ignore the not outs. There are only a few batsmen who average(d) over 40 per innings. Nobody else comes close. Check out this article from last year. He has scored 4 more hundreds since then and increased the gap between him and others even further.

I think everyone here will concur with you regarding Amla's greatness. ;) He's awesome.

Holy cowbells - look at Amla's average. 2nd only to Ten Doeschate, who has 1. faced less than 2000 balls and 2. mostly played against Bermuda, Scotland and Afghanistan. 56+ average in ODIs is insane.

Oh my. AB is up there in 4th. Someone might have a heart attack if he opens that link. Luckily I'm sure I'm on his ignore list by now. ;)
