Have fibre, cannot change ISP due to OpenServe map

Had a meeting with our Openserve account manager today, and they can manually provision a service if it is in a building that is active but not on the map, so all ISPs should be able to request this from Openserve manually, it may just take some time.

Thank the P_p_ my FTTH is in and working. This sounds crazy when you are desperate for better internet access than ADSL. My two years is almost up - maybe time for a new provider if this is all sorted out!

Does this mean that certain areas actually might be fiber ready, but due to them not "updating" the coverage map we cannot sign with ISP's for fiber?

Can anyone shed some light on this?
They laid trenches fiber in front of me months ago but nothing has transpired.

Yes. The only view of fibre being "Ready" is the map. If it's not dark purple, you aren't supposed to have fibre. But in many cases the map just doesn't get updated.

ISPs all have the same OpenServe map on their sites, and they refuse to deal with you if you aren't showing purple. Axxess and WebAfrica both told me to go away even though I have an OpenServe fibre line.

At least Telkom offers month to month on their fibre, and the price is the same as the ISPs so their loss after all.

It works the other way around as well. I have Openserve fibre in my street but, when people in the same street phone them to get fibre they get told there is none. Go figure?
