Have Iburst should i get ADSL?

If you can afford it/need it.
What are you using the internet for?

In anycase, if you can afford a nice 512kb or even 1024kb connection and dont mind cutting your losses on a R2000 modem, plus paying for a new ADSL modem and installation... the ngo for it!

What you must order etc.. others will tell you in the morning im too lazy and you could just look around.
BTW you afrikaans? I see you use ens instead of etc. (not exactly realated to your DSL needs, except that Telkom suig..)

get adsl now!!! you wont believe how awesome it is

and actually adsl isnt that much more
get a 384 line with 30 gig allyoucaneat account and its around the same price as iburst's 9 gig deal

plus there is no r2800.00 modem involved apart from the one you already bought lol
but try selling it
 
ADSL vs IBurst

ADSL is not as fast as Iburst
Iburst's speed is governed by coverage...ADSL is operated by Telkom (lose lose situation lol)
ADSL can work out a lot cheaper than Iburst
No monthly contracts with ADSL
The setup time for ADSL (ordering and actual installation) can be very frustrating

If you're only going to surf the net and download stuff, then Iburst will work for you. The only "technical" aspect where ADSL is better than Iburst is with most online games that require circuit switched traffic....Iburst is packet switched and uses "bursts" hence the company name. Burst packet transfers will not work for most online games as it gives you a HUGE ping latency....ADSL witch uses Circuit switched data is continious data streaming which is perfect for gaming as it gives you a very low Ping latency.

It's up to you....both have got their advantages and disadvantages.
 
I was one of the first sentech subscribers (obviously left in quite a hurry). If i compare my wireless experience to ADSL there is no comparison... downtime is really minimal i have the flexability to mix and match adsl accounts and downloads are predictable. Not to mention I can play GuildWars without any problems....
 
I've taken the decision to swap over to ADSL from iBurst - just hope the conformance test goes well and I can get it. I reckon you go through the swap aswell if you interested in downloading.

JA, ADSL is beter vir omtrent alles, gaan maar voort.
Die eintelike rede om te swap is nie die ADSL teknologie (in SA natuurlik), maar die prys van data op die ADSL network en jou verskeie maatskappye wat die diens lewer, in vergelyking met Iburst waar hulle die eenigste ISP is.

Kry 'n IS en 'n SAIX rekening en gebruik die nuwe DDProxy app wat nou net in hierdie forum verskyn het. Dit sal oed werk met 'n OpenBrowse rekening. Dan gebruik jy ten minste nie net Telkom vir jou ISP.
Ge jou die beste van aflaai en surf.
