I was online this morning right, logged off for about an hour or two and when it came to logging back on about 5mins ago, no webpages would load (IE and FF) ... So I restarted the PC and everything is hunky dory :confused: So what exactly is it that causes that? It's probably only about the 2nd or 3rd time it's done it but it just freaks me out because I'm clueless :confused: Any info would help to alleviate said cluelessness though, so bring it on :D

IE? So you have Windows, right? Well no one who is right in his mind would use IE in Linux, so you must be using Windows. Well, there you have it. It's Windows' fault!!!
 
Wierd I had a similar problem, I could not open any webpages around 7 - 10 this morning, could not ping anything, yet I had a torrent running full steam, and I was capped as well.
 
@ Mephisto_Helix : I speculate that the machine that provides your computer with an IP Address (DHCP Server), which is probably your router (I don't know your configuration), is not setting the expiry times on your assigned ip address properly or something similar.

To test this theory, next time you cannot connect to anything, open a cmd window and enter IPConfig. If the IPConfig utility returns an ip address of 0.0.0.0 then .. yup, that's a possible cause.
Or, perhaps your Network card goes into sleep mode and does not wake up.

Wow! That is too complicated, I vote you just blame Telkom... Much easier :D:D:D:D
 
There are tied to telkom and the changes they made to not resetting adsl every 24hours. Sometimes you don't get a new ip or the old ip address doesn't clear telkom side. You need to phone them and ask them to restore your session.
