Ordered flashlights worth R70 and Buffalo sends me this invoice. I understand the R8 odd for VAT and Duty but what in the world is the R40 Doc & Transfer Surcharge as per the attachment. Has anyone had anything like this before.
something you bought falls outside of the standard permit and needed special clearing ,some commodities must be physically inspected ,not common though .

If flashlights in RSA need special clearance then we are in for some dark times:p

So did some digging and found this info below on Facebook (not sure how accurate) but will try and give it a shot.

What buffalo logistics will do is that they will add their own charges for services ( helping you ) .
Remember you did not hire them to help you BUT they were hired by SHEIN and SHEIN must pay for service fees not you .
So after requesting a tax invoice , ask them to reduce charges for the following.
1. Service fee
2. Docs and transfer surcharge .
These are charges that must be paid by Shen for using Buffalo logistics Not by customers.
You should only pay for duty and vat

not the product but the description , invoices are scanned via AI , so if it doesnt understand the description it will flag it for intervention .

I just bought a flashlight (not a fleshlight!!!) actually it was a black light, my whole order package of like 30 little things was like R2,000 and my tax paid was R295...

Have you ordered from Temu? Let us know what your experience was like.

Temu is an online marketplace for items directly from China, similar to Wish and Shein - which recently launched in South Africa.
I am expecting my third order from Temu today! They are very jacked - and they sell EVERYTHING - stuff you could NEVER find in this country, like clothing, shoes and especially wall tapestries (you get cool lumo ones), carpets, etc. AND- they have a plus size clothing and shoe section for everyone - my father has heart problems and incredibly swollen feet - wears a size 13 shoe. I can't find any shoes or socks for him to wear locally, PLENTY of choice on Temu - also for post-op gear. Anyway, it takes about two weeks for orders to arrive, but no hassles, runs very smoothly. The prices are GREAT! I can highly recommend Temu for online shopping - watch out though - highly addictive!!!:giggle:

Good for you. More choice is always better.

SA is a bit of a dump if you look at how little product variety we have.

Just did my 1000th order, the Buffalo delivery Company has key to my house now for deliveries and Sars has assigned a dedicated Custom Officer that lives in my guest bedroom now.

I feel better about my addiction now.

Had 3 Dashcams that each lasted about 18 months
Last one was a Dahua which cost R2910,00. Book said it had its own wi-fi but could not detect SSID. Agent asked me if I drove the car when it was hot. Idiot

Bought a R285 Dashcam from Temu. Works first time. date accurate and clear picture. Hopefully it will last
