FYI - adhoc data bundles on Vodacom contract now run for 30 days from inception, sort of a rollover, similar to prepaid.
One caveat - dont buy your new bundle until your old bundle is (almost) exhausted as they start consuming from your newest bundle first, so you might still have capacity on your old bundle which will expire before you get a chance to use it.

Problem being that your bundle for the new month will run first so you don't get to use your purchased bundle. Unless you rush through it so you can finish it and your purchased bundle before it expires and then you have nothing so have to purchase another one.

For some reason I am thinking that this was expected and Vodacom knowing people want to use what they paid for knew they would buy more where if it expires they will try to make their monthly bundle last until the end of the month. A few people already bought larger bundles thinking they would get to use them and Vodacom being the good corporate citizen it is will not compensate them for it. :rolleyes:

So the latest YeboNews has a snippet on Vodacom's new WiFi offering. Unfortunately I cannot find the information on the vodacom website as promised in the blurb, but the thing that did catch my eye was: "I can choose either Pay As you surf, Once-off or contract bundles and will be able to carry over unused data up to 12 months and Pay as you Surf"

Unfortunately Pay as you surf is the most expensive option at R0.86/MB (Local) and R1.50/min (international) (Good luck with that bill). The point I am however trying to make here is if they can do it on one type of data service why not any of the others? I still can't see why if you can roll over minutes every month your data can't roll over as well...

The question is not what can or can't be done. It's what does or does not want to be done. While nobody offers roll over they won't offer it either. And forget about getting a straight answer from their reps, might as well have this subject closed.

It doesn't look like we will be getting this anytime soon, if at all:(. But then uncapped be would so much better:D.

As much as I would like to have DBR, I just don't see it happening, and honestly who would want DBR if they could have uncapped? - IMO uncapped circa 2010 [when SEACOM etc are online] is more likely to be implemented than DBR.

Imagine this, got home at seven, still have 100MB+ left on the bundle. What to download? What to download? I know, windoze update, AV update, mail...

Panic sets in! Still have 100MB left! Only 3 hours to go! I know, that app I wanted to test. Oh no! It's 200Mb+! OK, what else.... WHAT ELSE???

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH. Times up and still have 40MB left!!

Imagine the data that was left rolled over. That would've been nice...
 
I won't need Vodacom anymore with Neotel. So whatever they want to offer me now it's too little too late.
