So I was looking around yesterday for someone in Durban to cut me a plain perspex side panel for my case. I phoned Durban plastics and was told that they can't do what I wanted and was told to contact Badges & Silver Art CC. I then asked to have a plain side panel cut and for the holes to be made and the fan slits to be removed, so I would end up with a plain version of the one I currently have. I was told that the guy would have to cut a few pieces to get the holes right for positioning. I was then quoted R425 ex VAT (R500) :wtf: is it really that expensive or am I being taken for a ride? I might aswell just buy myself that Coolermaster Enforcer case for R800 that has a plain side panel.

The reason I want this done is cause I don't use fans for the side of my case and I was a more see-thru panel in case I decide to do some lighting because the one I currently have is black tinted.

Here's a few screenshots of the side panel that I want made:

Having perspex cut is expensive for some reason :/ More expensive than having aluminium/steel laser cut!

I think I'm rather going to get a new case, thing is a need a case with 4 USB's in the front and a clear side panel, so the search begins! The Coolermaster Enforcer is a good candidate, but my motherboard doesn't have the USB 3.0 header so I will need to get something for USB 2.0 in the front like a card reader ect.

Check esquires pricelist they got a beautiful white case for about 900 when i got some time i will look for it.

Forgot to mention - the material isnt that expensive at all, so if you have access to a drill + jigsaw, or just a dremel, you can get away with... R150 for the window

I thought I need to get it laser cut to fit? otherwise I can just get the perspex from Durban plastic and cut it myself.

Nah, just measure everything up properly (measure twice, cut once) and you're sorted. Then file down the edges a bit and you're done. The most difficult part is getting all the holes to line up, here is what I did:
1) Mark up and cut the outline
2) Clamp it to the side panel so that it doesnt move
3) Drill one hole, thread it, and bolt it to the panel
4) Drill a hole on the opposite end, thread it, bolt it in.
5) Drill and thread all remaining holes
6) Put in ALL the bolts
7) Jobs done, ready to work :D

Meh, R500 isn't looking so bad anymore, it doesn't use bolts it uses those plastic things above in the pic. Will see if I can master up enough effort to give it a try though. :)

Well you dont have to use bolts, I'm sure you can re-use the plastic thingies. But yes, modding is a lot of work. I'm finding it very difficult to finish my project :/

Just btw, most cases I've seen with front USB3 use a cable that connects to back USB3 port, not internal header.

What are those? Split rivets?

Ag it's those little plastic things that if you push out the thing in the middle it comes out and when you put it back in they push out to hold, sorry can't explain it any better than that, going to bed now night :)
