Its a old note book travelmate 252xc_dt acer. The bios has a password but for the love of mary i cant reset it.I removed the battery and cmos battery for at least 20 minutes and still nothing. Is there no backdoor one that will work on phoenix v4.o revision 6.
I tried phoenix and caps, also bio.BIOS..etc.Can someone point me in the right direction

Phone Acer, there was a default password for their older notebooks that I used to use. Cant remember what it is now.....

if you drop it on a tiled floor from more than two meters it resets the password.

Try
1. remove laptop battery
2. disconnect charger from laptop
3. remove cmos battery
4. use paper clip to short cmos battery contacts for a couple of minutes
5. replace cmos battery
6. replace laptop battery
7. reconnect charger

Been there done that................Downloading the service manual now.

Right got it sorted out..On the motherboard there is a sw1(dip switch). In the service manual it showed how the dip switches must be position to disable the bios password.Well as you know i stripped the laptop to find the switches whoolaa no more password.

If it's that easy to bypass the password, one wonders why the installed the switch in the first place!

Thanks for posting the fix.
