having prolems with ps3 update

i'm having problems with my ps3's update via a storage device, i put the saved update file(the pup file) into a folder called UPDATE then thats in a folder called PS3 but the ps3 still doesn't see the update file

Don't put in a PS3 folder. Put in the root of the storage device.

Or, in the options of the PS3 set it to view all files.
