Hawks confirm another explosive device in Durban

DURBAN - The Hawks have confirmed another explosive device has been found in Durban, which has been defused.

Over recent weeks several explosive devices have been found in public spaces around Durban, including the Pavilion and Gateway shopping centres.

One incident happened at a Spar convenient store.

There have, however, also been a number of hoax bomb threats.

10 days ago, Durban police couldn't yet say if they were any closer to finding those responsible for planting five explosive devices around the city.

Explosive devices had been found in three Woolworths stores in as many days.

A few have gone off... but none of them have been significant in any way really...

Its a big worry, but I also think that if this is some sort of terrorist endeavour than they are merely testing the waters at the moment and we can expect MUCH worse in the near future.

South Africa has been up till now very cocooned and protected in our little corner of the world. I do hope we continue to be ignored by terrorists as we have enough problems of our own. I don't see any benefit to causing instability in SA. It really doesn't make any sense to start this **** here.

They must catch whoever this is and publicly execute him. Throw him down a mineshaft.

I think what we are seeing was something many people have predicted over the years: that "melt down" in law and order, when grievences turn from mere protests and brick throwing to more more serious terrorist attacks.

My personal feeling, one can draw a correlation between the terrorism of apartheid and what we are seeing now. There are some out there that perhaps feel that the only way to cure corruption is destruction; that these bombs are a message to the ANC of "things to come" if they continue down this land process against the Zulu's.

I think you and I and the ANC horribly underestimate what is to come if they annexe Zulu territory. We will have war.

Putting bombs in public places, this can never be accepted or even tolerated not in any way, shape nor form and something like this must be stamped out hard and with severe force or this will get worse.
