Police are searching for 10 men who robbed a Welkom, Free State, bank and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money on Tuesday, the Hawks said.
Three armed men approached a security guard outside the bank on Stateway Road around 9am, Captain Stephen Thakeng said.
They searched him and pushed him inside. The men then instructed the guard, bank employees, and clients to lie down. One of the three used a hammer to break the glass at the tellers' counter.
"An undisclosed amount of cash was robbed and 10 suspects drove off with two vehicles, a white Toyota Hilux bakkie with registration number CD 36NB GP and a green Kia sedan with a Mpumalanga registration number," Thakeng said.
Their seven accomplices waited outside the bank. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
