HD 4850 ?

Im getting the 4870X2 soon - as these get pretty hot too I was wondering If anyone knows how well a Raidmax Smilodon Case will cool it?

it's got a 120mm fan infront, 2 on the sides, one on the other side, and an exhaust fan..?

wouldn't wan't that card to melt away after I play my first 20 minutes of crysis on high settings@1920x1080

Yes, yes it's going to melt away, sorry, but you made a bad choice! And your case is going to make all the difference! Hmm, doesn't sound like that case has a enough fans!! Bt oh wait the card's cooler exhausts out the back of the case..

Same card in a CM Stacker 830 Nvidia Edition case with 3x 120mm fans on the side and the card runs like a dream. :D

PS: Don't listen to dudewotevr.

ok ok i know it sounds like adequate cooling - but you don't understand...I seriously intend on gaming on it at 1920 resolutions...

ive read some stories of some people's 4870's running extremely hot - like 80-90.:(

yes but that case is R2200 excl vat....
also - an nVidia case wouldn't look too well with an ATI card...lolz..

MySide fans are only 80mm i think...:(

Yes don't listen to me, cos I was being facetious!

What are you guys talking about anyway? The card will be fine in almost any case!? Do you really think they designed it only for 3 or more fan laden cases? There is no sticker on the side that tells you to refrain from using it in certain cases is there!? It's not going to run any better performance-wise because of your case!

are you sure it's gonna stay cool in a case witout any propper fans?

IMHO it will get hotter and hotter if you have like 1 mini fan, with 2 broken fins, only spinning at 3.1 rpm

and so!?!?! Your point? You think it's going to get hotter because of using it for higher res's? Why? Where did you read what?

Yes if you read a little more you would read that they're designed to withstand those temperatures, whether you feel good about it or not.. If you don't like em, you can simply make the fan run faster, problem solved.
Seriously, you're jst making problems where there aren't..

Dude, seriously, unless I missed the huge world-wide crisis of 4870X2's failing cos of heat, you're just being paranoid for no reason. Yes some sort of decent air-flow in a case is kinda good for any card, and will keep it a varying degree cooler, bt do you understand the concept of the cooler attached? It takes air and pushes it across heat-pipes and fins and exhausts it OUTside the case..
Id love to read this post or article that describes what you're saying, ..and unless the actual fan stopped working, then you're just making stuff up..

LOL..you don't need to get sarcastic over me man - I think everyone knows that higher resolutions demand more processing power, which WILL push up the heat when it's at full load.

I had 2x 8800GTXs in and then upgraded to the ATI and the case is a bit expensive to replace... :D

Um, I don't know where you cut and pasted that quote from , but those words have never resulted from either my mouth or my fingers, ..ever.

A bit agro to day dudewotevr? But yes, I totally agree, they won't release a card if it couldn't keep itself cool enough to keep working for +-5years...

Over you? That sounds gross, I think you mean WITH..

Marginally, ..and so, where are these articles or posts referring to failed 4870X2's due to heat, due to running high res's (what they're meant for ANYway)?
You're just being illogically paranoid.

Uhm, post #28??????????? Are you smoking something?

Ummm K!!!!!!! I was replying to Keeper, like it states at the beginning of the post, and my replies were in bold. Goll, nice speed-reading buddy, it's really workin for ya!
