HD-DVD recaptures the lead

The problem here Retro is that the graph changes all the time... When you looked there was an obvious BR winnner.

But right now

I get
Salesrank of top 10 products: Winner = Blu-Ray
Salesrank of top 25 products: Winner = HD
Salesrank of top 100 products: Winner = HD
Total copies in stock at Amazon: Winner = Blu-Ray
# in top 100: Winner = Tie
# in top 1000: Winner = Tie
# in the top 10000: Winner = Blu-Ray
Number of DVDs that can ship today: Winner = Blu-Ray
Number of DVDs that can be purchased today: Winner = Blu-Ray
Average Amazon.com price: Winner = Blu-Ray
Google Searches: Winner = HD

Now if you ignore numbers of DVD's available to ship or be purchased and we only look at what is actually being sold we get
Salesrank of top 10 products: Winner = Blu-Ray
Salesrank of top 25 products: Winner = HD
Salesrank of top 100 products: Winner = HD

Obvious HD win...

See stats can say anything... seriously I still don't think there is a clear winner even though I am pretty sure Blu-Ray will win in the end.... It's got a cooler name ;)
 
I will happily sit in the middle of the road waiting for a clear winner to arrive.

At least I have not made any decisions into getting a HD-DVD or BD drive coz I have that option. ;)

Even now I could still buy HD-DVD movies and watch the regular DVD portion on them on my regular DVD drive, if HD-DVD wins i simply watch the same movies on their HD-DVD side. :p
 
here's an interesting move by Warner. Usually they release BD and HD-DVD discs at the same time for a movie but this time for Blood Diamond they going to release it one month earlier on BD because HD-DVD has more feature rich content; this is to ensure BD does not get disadvantaged because they have less content on their disc though the technical spec if the same.

Weird why would HD-DVD be more feature rich if the BD has more disk space? Distributors shunning away from working too hard for the BD version?
 
well this says it for BD.

Weird, just looked again and BR is still the winner on most categories, and tieing on some. Your internet must be faster than mine... ;)

People at stores only look in the blu-ray section and dont really notice hd-dvd. Hope this is short lived. Most peoplel know abt blu-ray but not HD-DVD as well...quite a worry.

I think by end of year when the cheaper sub $300 models come out for HD-dvd, that'll be when the HD-DVD really fightback.

:confused: you must have changed some settings somewhere because they only update once a day according to the site and HD is still ahead in those two categories.?

Fudzy: you are correct...

They have changed the page again and now HD is only winning by 50 points instead of 90...

I still say this is a tie and someone needs to remember to check the rank again in a month to see if it's going anywhere
