HD PVR 2 P - single lnb installation

Tim

I have twin lnb setup. Will I be able to run extra-view from the HD PVR 2P decoder - by splitting the one lnb feed off to the 1110 decoder?

thanks

with a twin lnb u just need a 2x4 multi switch, the 2 cables from the lnb go into the multiswitch, and 4 go out, 2 go into the hd pvr and 1 goes to your 1110, then run 1 heart beat cable from the hd to the 110, and you will full functionality on all

thank you master isie ;-)

thus the splitting the one feed will not work? - what does the multiswitch do?

The challenge is that content is broadcast on two different polarizations- some channels on vertical and others on horizontal.

The multi switch uses two LNB connections as inputs - one it places on horizontal and the other on vertical. It then makes these available by switching the output ports (4+) to either vertical or horizontal depending on what the decoder demands.

The 2x4 multi switch is the smallest one... you get them up to several ports.

Hi
I've done the single lnb installation with a splitter. Initially it worked well but now I don't have certain channels:
Mnet
MM1
UniCh
Series
Discovery
SS1
SS2
SS5

I'm not recording anything but strange thing is, when I try record these channels it works and it even plays back the recording despite the "live" feed from the channel giving me the "Signal not found" error message. Basically I just can't watch them live but I can record whatever is on these channels.

Please help.

The other channels are on the other polarization - remember that with only 1 LNB you can only access one of the polarization at a time - most likely vertical... not sure.

Seems like a problem with your splitter. Switch the two cables coming out of the splitter around and let me know

Can't help you with extra view, don't have a clue :-). try having a look around in the thread or forum, there should be an answer somewhere.

Thanks, that seems to have worked.

I'm not an electrician so I can't explain the technical details but I think it has something to do with the priorities of the outputs. I had the same issue with my splitter, one has to make sure that tuner 1 is connected to the splitter output with the high priority, ie the one which determines the polarisation.

Quick question:

I have connected up my HD PVR 2P , single lnb connection and splitter, everything is working 100%, can record, signal on both tuners showing as 100% on both bars repectiviely which I'm told is rare that both are 100%.
Does this setup in anyway deteriate the picture quality?
Will there be any benefit now that this is working of actually buying and setting up a dual lnb and extra cable?

The benefit is that you get full functionality unlike in this set up where V becomes unavailable when you record in the H. Picture quality is unaffected.
So no one willing to test Xtraview for us? Especially those of us who already pay the access fee for PVR:o

What do you want to know about XV? It works the same as the other HDPVRs

I want to know if it will work with the single lnb installation as per this thread's OP.

o ok, well the XV side of things wont be a problem, but obviously splitting the signal even further to another decoder will still limit you to 1 polarisation at a time

Hi guys need some help or direction to another thread,
Got the single lnb setup, everything works 100%, except when i record on HD channels and view another, it stops recording after 30mins or so, but when i record any other channel i can view others while it records 100%
Any suggestions
Thanks

That's the problem with a single lnb installation, it won't work perfectly as outlined in the guide. There will always be some recording errors. Which specific channels are you watching/trying to record when it gives you the error?

It only does that when i record Mnet HD,other than that, its perfect
Thanks

The sound on Discovery HD seems to dissapear for 5sec every 20min - anybody else having this problem?
It's only started to happen in the last week.
