Hi

So I bought an HD PVR this weekend. The cheapest installation clost so far has been R1250. (No Xtraview required)

I already have the standard DSTV installed in my flat.

Do you guys know if there someone accredited that will go cheaper?

Regards
L

I am going to find myself in the same boat in a couple of weeks. What does the R1250 include? Are you going for a SATCR or twin LNB w/ multiswitch?

Reason why I ask is that I want to buy the LNB, etc myself from somebody like SpaceTV as opposed to the installer since the installer would most probably put a little percentage on top of the price of the equipment. At the end of the day, I supply the gear and the installer does the work and supplies the cable hopefully reducing the installation cost.

This is what's included:-
1 X SUPPLY & INSTALL TWIN LNB

1 X 2nd CABLE LAYED TO MAIN POINT

1 X 2x4 MULTISWITCH PLUS 4x50cm LEAD CABLES

Hi,

Just another question.

Having a twin LNB vs Quad, will this make a difference when Multichoice eventually offer Video on Demand?

No. It will not be an issue. The thing that might become an issue, is 60cm dishes when they change to DVB-S2 broadcasting for the HD. Keep that in mind. They are recommending 75cm dishes for HD, but there is a very nice 70cm dish from Visiosat that should do the trick.

It seems that twin LNBs w/ multiswitches are being recommended instead of a SATCR LNB. Although SATCR LNB seems attractive in terms of cabling, it isn't very future proof, even if you lay a second cable from the legacy connector on the LNB for XtraView.

I also have a DSTV Single view installed and looking to upgrade to the HD PVR. Could you advise who quoted you R1250 and which area you are in...
