The place I just moved into has cables in my unit for TV/DSTV. There are 3 connections, 1 of which I assume is TV and the other 2 DSTV. My HD PVR has 4 inputs and I currently only have signal on 1 and 4. Is there something I can buy or do to get my recordings working again? I assume something that takes 1 input and outputs multiple cables?

if you have the 4 tuner PVR and have a dual lnb with 2 cables you use a 2x4 multi-switch (you would use a 2 x 6 multi-switch if you also want to have extra view)

edit:

here with diagram

and the 2 x 6

Exactly what I thought I needed. Thanks mate, that's a big help. Will be sorted in no time now :)

It's a sign!!!!!! Save yourself while you still can. If you get it connected you will once again fall into the dark addictive pit of HDPVR software updates that will break everything and reduce your life to nothing more than the perpetual hell of half recorded shows, missing the most important parts during decoder reboots and watching your eyebrows grey while waiting for remote responses.

Be a pioneer and just live the way humans were intended to live... the good life. Don't do the selfish thing, give your children a brighter future!!!!!! For Heavens Sake man, do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF are you talking about? I work mostly at night so without PVR I don't really watch TV. And I never have reboots - all my recordings are perfect :D

Then I must get a night job. Since their last software update, my quality of life has really slipped.

Everything that worked ok'ish in the past now doesn't work at all!! Decoder reboots literally 10 times a day interrupting half my recordings, iPlate doesn't work, the recording timeline doesn't work, when I change channels if there is a buffer nothing changes, if I use the iPlate to change channels, it switches to DMX music channels, If I press rewind it pauses and when I play again it restarts the show at the beginning... yoh I don't know.

i think you should actually re-evaluate your life then :p

If I could only record a dr Phil episode that can help me with that

I haven't had any problems since the last update. You should take your decoder in to Multichoice...

I consider you lucky, I know of 4 other households which experience similar types of problems. What irks me is the fact that it all went haywire literally the day after the software update, which tells me that it’s not a hardware problem. Reading through the Multichoice forums, they have admitted that a lot of these problems exist.

You're right I should probably take it to them, go through the frustration of queues and driving to Randburg, I just get fuming at the excuses and lack of resolutions, how hard it is to get through to someone with answers at the Call Centre... and all this while paying them exuberant subscription fees.

The embarrassing part is that before this, I was always an evangelist for them and HDPVR (I convinced 7, yes 7, people to go out and buy one), now I can't really go round complaining

My HD PVR works perfectly, and everyone else I know who has one also works perfectly...
