This is the 1st thing I checked, having previously been aware of the noticable difference between 50Hz (interlaced) & 100Hz (double buffered) on CRTs. But on digital panels (all lines active) the difference doesnt seem to be the same (to me).Scrolling text (or anything) should be a large enough difference?

In a movie of 90 minutes there may only be 5 minutes of a scene where it is noticeable - but those 5 minutes count and I'd (personally) prefer a TV where I knew those 5 minutes could be better. Those 5 minutes were enough for to go the 100hz route after seeing a 50hz and 100hz side by side with the same input
EDIT : My source hasn't been DSTV. I've used it with rips (480, 720 and 1080), standard DVD and upscaled DVD - and BR
Not really sure, dont have a 6 series to test on. If we're talking about Bluray rips (or equiv), then I would think the 6 series has a more powerful media player (DSP chip), I know my 5 series isnt very competent above 720p.Your thoughts?
If the 6 is frame doubling the input Hz (creating intermediate interpolated frames) then I suppose it can give motion a smoother look, but it is introducing artificial information that wasnt meant to be there.
And what is a 'normal' (old school) TV?

At recommended viewing distances they do, but people typically sit too far from their TV. That 50" figure is basically something arbitrarily made up.At normal viewing distances, displays smaller than 127cm (50") do not generally benefit from a horizontal resolution higher than 720.
