HD2 or N97

I spoke to a lady at Leaf wireless today and she reckons the HD2 will be landing this week and probably be available at MTNSP stores by next week or the week after. I have put my name down for one so hopefully I get it soonish...

I thought that it was launched and available already? I believe the first lot of phones got snapped up quite quickly, and now the SPs are out of stock... Maybe that is what she is referring to?

+1
They were released some time ago

I'm sure the developers at XDA will work something out. There are already a large number of Android ports available for various WM devices

That is what I meant, they're waiting for a new batch. The only place that has stok is the MTNSP store and they're broken phones waiting for repair.

I had reserved one at Bayside at the end of last month for my upgrade this month but they only keep them for 48 hours. They took it off hold for me and couldn't sell it so they sent it back.

Can you say IDIOTS?????

Just my 2 cents. I have just got the HTC Hero this last weekend so haven't had it that long. But from what I've seen so far its great phone and will do all the things on your list. They are dropping in price as well to make way for the new HTC models coming through, but speed-wise this thing is perfect. The latest rom has solved most of the sluggishness.

Paid 2.5k on a weekender package from Vodacom store, so you should be able to get it for free on the bigger packages.

The HD2 uses the new micro-usb standard, so your old mini-usb cable will not work. Likely due to the slim profile of the HD2 that the flatter micro-usb connector was necessary. I have a brand new, sealed original HD2 car charger I don't need, as my car has a convenient usb port onboard - pm me if interested.
WRT other accessories, HD2 comes with a HTC black leather slip-pouch in the box - this should suffice while you wait for a better pouch to become available. I personally prefer the HD2 leather flip-pouch also made by htc - works very nicely while maintaining my phone's slim profile.
