I just want to be able to play some recent games. Doesn't have to be max settings, just playable and looking nice.

The next option up is an HD7850, but that's a grand more for the card, plus I will have to get a new power supply as well...

Any advice appreciated here, thanks.

It's adequate depending on the settings, especially if you're willing to drop your res slightly to like 1600x900 if you have a 1920x1080 screen.

Also, anything higher and you may need to get a better PSU. Depends what you have?

You could also look for a better card, second hand, with warranty.

I think I want to get a new card, mostly because that means I can pick it up today. :D

PSU wise, I've got a tiny one, that's the other reason I am looking at this card, the tiny power draw.

Which PSU is it?

I would go for the new 7770 (or even a second hand equivalent like 5770/6770) and then start looking for a new (or second hand) PSU, depending on how much you're enjoying gaming. Will give more upgrade room in the future.

Oh yeah a 7770 will be fine. I have a 5770 and I game in 1080p. Sure I cant enable 8x MSAA but it still runs nicely, in any game I choose. So a 7770 will be fine. Just make sure your PSU is up to scratch.

Hmm, reading a couple reviews, it is really seeming like a bit of a wet fish, this card...

As for the power supply I have at the moment, I think it's a 350 or something...

Sounds dodgy if no brand name. Wouldn't trust it with a mid range card. I'd start by looking at something like this at +-R475:

Corsair VS450 , Eps12V , ATX 12V V2.3 - 450w ( 12v : 360w ) , 24pin , with active-PFC , 1x6pin PCI-E power , 1x 120mm thermal controled fan , 4x SATA - 3 years warranty - no power cord http://www.corsair.com/builder-series-vs450-450-watt-high-performance-power-supply.html

7770 is utterly pointless. It's a revamped 5770 which was slower than a 4870 1gb. What about a 6970 perhaps?

Spend some time on Anandtech bench site for GPU's. That will give you a very good idea of how they compare to each other.

The TI version is too much - Around R2400, while I can get the gtx version for 1800.

The 7850 is around R2400 as well.

Suppliers in PE don't have a lot of AMD options unfortunately.

I have an i7 2600.

Good value then - 2 cards up from the 7770 for not much extra. 150w TDP vs 80w.

Which PSU you getting?

A 6850 would be nice, I am using one...though I am using a 500w PSU though.

There should a few second hand ones...

Phone these guys: Ibayi PC. They're based in North End. Ask if they still have some high-end cards on their shelves. And then ask how much they'll drop for it. Speak to Heinrich if you can, tell him Wesley referred you. They have some older stock lying around that I know they'd really like to get rid of, so if you can haggle nicely you'll be able to get a good bargain.

Most they'd be able to do normally is a 15% price drop if you're paying with cash. As for AMD stock, they'll get you anything you can and will price-match the rest of the shops in PE if you have an official quote.
