HD7770 adequate?

Look for one of these: Gigabyte Odin 585W (good performance for a very reasonable price)

Some good prices:

Will most definately run a GTX 560ti (170W), I have run the following cards with no issue on this power supply:

HD 4890 190W
HD 7870 175W

And the Rig in question has plenty of USB powered devices, is an i5 2500, 3 HDD's + CD/DVD Drive.

Sorry but that's a poor PSU. Granted a lot better than most sub R300 case + PSU bundles, it's not good for mid-high end/gaming setups. Dual 12v rail where single is better, 18A and 16A on 12V2 & 1, 1 year warranty, etc. It'll work though...

Did I get an okay card? What you guys think?

All I can say is **** it's HUGE. Was a serious struggle getting it into the case. :D

Bad, bad bad advice. Those 585w units are garbage. Perhaps this:

Avoid Gigabyte Odins, avoid Huntkey except the X series, avoid Coolermaster eXtreme, and avoid Thermaltake Lite.

Dunno, never had any problems with the Odin 585W, maybe I got a "Wednesday" model ;) .... But I would take an Odin way before something like an iSonic! esquire has the antec range of PSU, also well priced. Only reason for mentioning the Odin is because of its mainstream availability. But if you all feel its kuk, then so be it. Had one for 3 yrs, been through 3 graphics cards on it, no issues...

With PSU's there's a nearly direct correlation between weight and quality. So almost without plugging it into your system you can hold it and know what it's made of. High quality electrical components like coils and capacitors are heavy and substantial and use materials like copper. The 585w Odin and Huntkey Greenpowers for instance are very lightweight - in particular they will get damaged by the kind of current fluctuations that we have in our SA grids.

Wattage numbers are only a part of the indication of a unit's value. Efficiency, particularly class-ratings (e.g. Silver 80%) are important to look out for; if they don't have it then you can guarantee it's a poorer quality unit.

I will agree its a mediocre PSU by all means, my opinion is it will work, its the lowest entry level PSU IMO that one could go for... If the OP is tight on budget, then it might suit his needs. Personally for my own rig, I go for quality. My 600W can deliver up to 80A, of which 40A is available on a single 12V rail (and Modular PSU's are neater). So its down to what he can afford.

Note: If your PSU can power an old GTX 280 or 295, its got the goods!

Oh yea everything's about you, mr high-and-mighty-look-at-my-new-card-give-me-attention-guy. This thread transcended your petty OP concerns.
