Hi,

How many people have experienced this with the HD PVR, The device works fine and suddenly you have this message, which is a copyright protection function for HDMI.

Reason Im asking is that this has happened to me after having the HD PVR since Nov last year, MC says its the TV. However I have seen other reports indicating the same issue with the HD PVR causing the issue.

Basically the HDMI card needs to now be replaced.

Surely warranty covers this?

When I switch off my TV and the HD PVR and switch the TV back on first and then the decoder I get that message but it's never given me issues, it's there for like 2 seconds.

Oooouch. Surely you can get Multichoice to pay? Or was it a power surge or something external that went through the PVR to the TV?

Sounds serious, if it's a problem with the HD PVR's me thinks it would NB to let Multichoice know so the specific models could be recalled. Could be a lot of upset HD tv owners if it is...me included!

The problem is MC will not admit it, Thats the reason I started this thread, to see if anyone else on the forums have had this issue.

Thanks, But the Mods take away threads they are not happy with. Ive seen this happen before.

Don't remeber if you recall, that the original forum for MC, dissapeard with a new version and all "HD PVR" issues, seemed to dissapear as well.

Your recourse is Hello Peter (no I'm not Peter Cheales).

Write also to the whoever does the consumer section in your local free rag, they may do a story on you and force NoChoice to pay up (and apologise).

Otherwise - Thank the media companies and their pushing of HDCP. After all the HDCP decoder or 'identifier' chip is probably what blew and without it you wouldn't have these problems. You're now paying the cost of keeping higher profits for media houses from your own pocket.

@PeterCH

'After all the HDCP decoder or 'identifier' chip is probably what blew and without it you wouldn't have these problems'

Exactly, except for 1 main issue, the "CHIP" was blown through a MC device.

Yeah, but if it wasn't there (and it's only purpose is to benefit media companies and not you-- you don't get anything out of it) it wouldn't have blown in the first place. Just another reason to thank organisations like MPAA.

Not any more. I would try that site. They don't disappear posts, they just tend to ignore the contentious ones.:D

There are a LOT of problems of all types related to that machine.

I got this error to day.
got an LG LH70 series LCD and the new PVR HD P2. I've noticed that I get the HDCP 15 (or HDCP is not supported ) message if I have my Xbox and PVR on at the same time. both are connected via HDMI. the moment I turn xbox off, the message goes away....probably the PVR not liking the xbox.

Samsung investigated the TV, and says the card was blown from an outside source (HD PVR) therefore warranty if void.

Doubt it. Borrow a PS3 or other HDMI device and try it. Bet it works 100%.
