Was running late with the braai this weekend and missing the rugby build up to rigged up an old tv to Apple TV and mirrored by iPad like I have done so many times before. HDCP error. Panic. All the google threads said switch off, switch back on, reconnect cable. Not very scientific and none worked. Finally discovered it’s a DSTV app problem. If you mirror your iPad first and then open DSTV you get this error. The trick is to open DSTV first and mirror from within the app. Hope nobody else misses rugby due to this error message

Had the same issue at some point in the last week or so. Unplugging \ rebooting the Apple TV fixed the issue, but it comes up a lot lately, especially in Prime Video. Netflix doesn't seem to have the same problem as DSTV \ Prime Video, so I dunno.

Had this problem this weekend

Fix:

1) MANUALLY update apple TV in its settings
2) Update DSTV app to latest version, start watching on the phone/tablet, then inside of the app (not screen share from main screen) select display send and select the apple TV (top right of player window as the stream is playing)

You could also get an HDMI splitter which strips the HDCP from the signal. Bought one last year from Amazon. It became painful with DSTV, Showmax and Prime Video all whining about copy protection intermittently... Netflix worked fine all along. I suspect my TV's HDMI ports aren't fully HDCP compliant, but I'm not sure why Netflix never had the issue as the other three streaming services.
