2nd HDD I bought from Makro crashed 2 days ago. Was fine and then it started the dreaded click...click....click..... I managed to get some of my stuff off it, but the majority is lost. 2TB of movies, series etc. I collected painstakingly over the years.
First one did the same after about 7 months.
I guess it'll be the last time I buy a HDD from Makro, but their prices are always really good. The previous one was a Fujitsu and this a Samsung (external, not usb). Luckily they're easy when it comes to refunds / credit. Just take it in, tell them it's stuffed and you immediately either get a refund or credit. No questions. At least that's what happened last time.
Any recommendations for a brand that'll last, specifically external? I'll probably visit Esquire over the weekend or so, but they might not have the best prices. Also, what backup strategies do you guys use? I've got a 1TB Samsung USB that I keep a copy of my photo's, documents etc. on, but it's not really viable to have a backup of all the movies, music, series, games, etc that I have.
