HDD - lost or recoverable

Hi guys

A question of great importance, one of my HDD's just failed on me today, basically while i was using it in an external housing something fell on the housing and the HDD stopped doing anything, disconnected and connected it, just a wierd noise and thats its. Is there any way to get that info off there, maybe by sending it in to someone who deals with data recovery of this sort. Please help all my daughters vids/pics are on there and that was the only copy i had.

Try this company ---> www.cssi.co.za They're the best there is! I can recommend them without doubt. They've done data recovery for me twice.
 
Have you tried connecting it via a different route? e.g. a different housing or directly in your PC. It's possible that the external housing is damaged (hopefully!!!).

I think it's fooked from his weird noise description. Removing it from the housing and directly connecting to the PC might be worth a try but if it does not work I would not mess around with it as you can cause more damage.

I have sent a couple of drives of to these guys in the past, www.imperative.co.za
 
If the drive is making ANY type of scratching noise, keep it turned off. Chances are one of the heads came lose. There are plenty of companies that offer delivery services. Unfortunately they all charge upfront and don't guarantee any recovery. If the platters are undamaged, chances are your data is safe.

Yip they not to far from me. They seem to do pretty good work, from what I've heard. Have sent a few people there & they all have good things to say.

Ha ha I actually see they mention on their website that it is job specific but they do mention things like this :

Wow where can I do the course for data recovery, seems profitable. Or is it the hardware required to recover that's soo expensive ? :D
