So lately my 320GB hdd has been playing up. It seems every movie and tv episode I put on to it gets corrupted.

For example, when I download a tv episode it downloads onto my 160GB hdd. I watch it while it's still on the 160 hdd and evrything is fine. When I'm done watching I move it over to the 320. A few days later if I watch it again the tv epsiode either doesn't play at all or it skips and jumps and the picture is messed up. Another funny thing is that a Britain's Got Talent episode I downloaded is now a CSI episode  When I click on the Britain's Got Talent episode, it starts playing a CSI episode :/

Is there something wrong with the file indexing on the hdd? I've tried using new SATA cables and have formatted it a few times yet nothing has seemed to worked. Am I going to have to claim from the warranty on it?

I can't. If I try and copy the Britain's Got Talent / CSI epsiode back to the 160 it says "Cannot read from source file or disk" but I can copy a movie/episode that has yet to be coruppted back over the the 160 with no problems.

Try Ontrack EasyRecovery Professional to get your data off it.

Sounds as if the drive is busted if you ask me.

Have you tried another drive on the same port to check?

Serves you right, dirty pirate scum.... ;)

Seriously though, the drive is cooked - the problem is that the OS does not confirm whether the write was successful or not, so it will allow you to write do the disk, even though it is broken. Don't copy any more to the disk, copy everything off and do a full format. This will also check for bad sectors and move them, if the format takes too long (hours, or does not complete), then take it back for a warranty swap....
