I am keen on buying a HDD Recorder. I am looking at the Sony RDR-HX750/B.

LOl......well I am keen to know if anyone else can recommend any others.

I have always had good experience with pioneer. Lots of people recommend this one.

But thats an HDD/DVD recorder so I don't know if it floats your boat. Its also 80gb.

Here is a Panasonic. Also highly recommended.

250gb storage and supports many formats and HDMI. Also take into consideration this is Panasonic, they make quality high end products and I don't think this will let you down. Panasonic also gives good support, so I would recommend this HDD recorder too.

yeah, Panasonic is a very under-rated company. it's cos LG and Samsung advertise so much that we think that their products are better. not to say it's not, but Panasonic make really good stuff. that Panasonic dvd-recorder is unbelievable.

I'm always surprised when people disregard Panasonic and Pioneer. Such good quality products. That Panasonic is nice, lots of good reviews. My old CRT TV is a Panasonic and it won best TV of 2005. Viva Panasonic :D

I have LG DVD recorder with 500GB HDD, very cool lil thing!!
USB + Divx player, no problems with it except you cant watch movies off the USB port, it has to be loaded on the machines HDD, the problem there is it takes way to long!!! 1 hour for a 700Mb file, but I just mark alot of files and copy!!

BTW it was very cheap!

Just to change the topic slightly, any decent 50" plasma's you can recommend.

I have this one.

Its very good for sports and nice blacks. Its only 42" but thats massive, can hardly imagine a 50". For you here is the 50" version:

Probably same quality just bigger screen

But in my opinion the best 50" Plasma you can get is this one. CNET seems to like too.

It is a Pioneer, very nice features and very well built. Again its a Pioneer so you can rest assured you getting quality product and good customer support.

HDD Recorder & 50" plasma........

Looks like someone is spending their Christmas bonus a bit early :D

I have actually got the Sony 50" PX3 plasma from Sony which has arrived and I need to pick it up.

Need to get a tuner now and thus looking at the Sony obviously, but the Panansonic I will now consider.

 Excuse the ignorance, but what's the hype about HDD/DVD recorders or PVR if a TV tuner for a PC does much more at less than half the price?
Unless the tv turner can record a channel while letting you watch another two then it may not necessarily be doing "much more" than a pvr.

Agreed. Like I said in my first post, get PVR.

Thanx. TV-tuner basically only records the channel it is set on, but watching other channels on the TV anyway, so I'm OK with that. :)
Just recording some progs for later viewing or archiving good movies and wildlife progs to DVD after cutting the annoying ad breaks.
