Hi All, I am looking at buying an entry level headset for my son. He plays games on an xbox. I don't want to spend too much money as he is no pro gamer. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Budget?

My nephews like their Razor's because that is what "gamers" wear. Son wants to brag at school. Just not Redragon is the quality is really poor.

Does he just need to hear or is a microphone also required?

Was thinking around the R1000

Can get something decent for that price, be patient, check out the auctions on BOBshop

Try avoid pleather ear cushions, the material type ones have a longer life, id even say avoid all the RGB lights and kak but I'm sure its preference,

if playing online, a mic is essential, will be super kak if he cant be racist or something in COD lobbies

Who the heck gives his kid a headphone without a mic when gaming. What kind of father are you.....
Not all kids enjoy co op gaming online. My son prefers gaming on his own

Check out Cooler Master. Affordable but good quality in both material and sound. Also comfy.

It's what I'm using only because it came with my pc upgrade but I'm happy. No complaints.

Is that like the list of Razers to avoid?
:p
Plus can't really lay a blanket over the quality of Redragon, unless you've tested all their models across the range. One cheapy R300 headset isn't their range.

A headset isn't an easy thing to buy, as they need to be comfortable for long gaming sessions. Also find out if he likes over head or in ear as well.

Post links for OP then.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1

Good headset, plus when did headsets get so expensive? I mean Cloud HyperX never used to be over 2k

Decent headsets have been 2-4K for some time now. I have SS Artics 5 very happy with them and the sonar programme is very good with a bit of tinkering especially for me playing PUBG.

Eish :-) I see even the Asus H3 I paid like R700 in 2020 is now sitting at almost 3 times that.
