I need a headset, priced in the region of 1k, as said...for gaming. I recently started playing competitively and my R200 stereo headphones really put me at a disadvantage at some points.

Sadly I don't have a soudcard. That should be considered when suggesting something.

Thanks in advance and please post links to the suggested product :).

P.S I mainly play fps games

I use a Razer Orca and a small cheapo standing mic on my desk. Works well enough :)

i got the corsairs vengeance 2000, they are wireless and spent about R1200 for them. very comfortable and simulates 7.1 surround decently.

Htf does your headset put you at a disadvantage? When in doubt buy Plantronics!

I thought much of the same until I used one of my friend's headphones. It adds another layer to games and one's ability to locate other players sound is actually incredible.

Since you don't have a sound card I'd recommend the corsair vengeance 1500. They are usb so have a built in sound card.

I wouldn't recommend anything wireless for gaming.

Check out the logitech G35's... Bought them about 2 months ago! Best decision ever... The 7.1 Surround sound is really useful in COD, and the mic is great quality along with the G keys which are really useful! I got mine for R1200 at BT games in Greenstone Shopping Centre

+1 I've got the Corsair Vengeance 1500. It's the same as crackersa's one just wired. It won Tom's Hardware best surround sound headphones award.

Before that I had a Roccat Kave which is also good but unfortunately I broke it by accidentally running my chair over it. :-(

I would go for Asus ROG vulcan if you really want wireless then Corsair Vengeance 2000 would be the best choice.
Just note of warning with the corsair vengeance 2000 it work with a usb connection which means if you not using onboard sound and your using a seprate sound card the headset not going to benefit from it

Seconded (or third lol) the Corsair 1500. Very comfortable and is able to do virtual surround sound very well with its large drivers. Typing this while wearing mine.

I own the Corsair Vengeance 1300, although its stereo you can still hear them in diagonal directions and from the back.

Have a look at the Oblanc Range - especially the 2.1 channel since you do not have a sound card (there is a 5.1 ch option). These headphones have a 40mm driver as a subwoofer and a 30mm driver for the speaker per cup as compared to the headphones you are looking at which only has a 50mm driver in each cup. You can get them for about R750.00
