Hi

I'm am looking for advice on the choice of a hearing aid.
This is for my dad.
He has been for a test and got a quote of R36k for hearing aids (two)
But I am not sure about the quality of the product. (Signia hearing)

I am wondering if there are forumites who can advise on their experiences with this.

Thanks in advance

Eish, R36k is a lot.

Are you in Pretoria? You can take a shufty at hearing aid centre in Waverley, try get a quote for Phonak hearing aids.

I'm using the Digifocus hearing aids, they're digitally adjusting sounds so that harsh sounds are dampened a bit, and softer sounds get amplified more.

The person testing your dad will do a few tests then make a recommendation on more than one hearing aid, and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each other.

Don't just stick to one place, try mote than one, google the hearing aid and compare them this way.

Ask for a test unit so your dad can try it out for a week or two.

Only then make a decision. And look at insurance as a possible option...

Good luck!

Is your dad with medical aid? I believe they should cover this.

R36k is alot! but hey keep looking and you will find cheaper option.
