Heat transfer paste

Sorry can't help you there mate. I was told a while ago that thermal paste was a dying product and I believed this until I saw my new dual core amd also has thermal paste so now I just don't know.

But also enquire about a thermal pad, I have also been told they work just as well....but make sure first :)

use toothpaste, or marmite...until you can find the proper stuff

Thermal pad is definitely not better than thermal paste!

You should be able to buy it from most online shops. A lot of computer shops don't stock it to sell to the public, so they can charge you to install the heat sink.

I have some Arctic Silver I bought a while ago and never used. Yours for free if you want it and can collect after hours in Centurion.

Most heat sinks come with a thermal pad or a little sache of thermal paste. Now these can only be used once, so if you want to sell your cpu and get a new one or swap it or something you will need some more thermal paste. So you will need more as soon as you take off your heatsink!

and using AS5 is much more effective than that wax stuff on stock CPU coolers, temps are usually bout 1-2 degrees lower, at least form my experience.

Exactly!

That isn't so much of an issue for some cpu's though as they run really cool at stock. But it's always better if you overclock or have a hot running cpu.

There is a huge difference on hot cpu's. I have dropped over 9 degrees off a P-D 940 just by using Artic Silver instead of the stuff that comes on the heatsink normally. That is quite a bit if u ask me.

Cyberdyne distributes Artic Silver products. Havent used anything else since I bought my first tube of Artic Silver II.
