Heavy data usage issues ahead?

I am reading more and more articles such as this one recently.

Part of the problem is that for years the networks have been heavily promoting their networks and the mobile internet - paired up with the infamous "unlimited" data plans that have caps and fair use clauses. Now that people are actually using the internet from their smartphones, and in significant volumes, the network infrastructure is starting to struggle.

AT&T wants its iPhone users to use less wireless data, and it may consider new pricing models to curb users' data usage as it tries to keep up with growing demand.

Posibily. But then they should stop developing such bandwidth intensive applications that they plan to make even more bandwidth intensive into the future.

Or maybe they could have used some of that money people paid them and invested it in improved infrastructure, instead of handing it out as bonuses and dividends.

It's much worse here, we pay that AND when we use our overpriced bandwidth the infrastructure can't handle it. In SA we're getting the worst of both worlds,being capped and paying exorbitant prices and hell then these same companies can't even keep you online or support you.

Americans are streaming their MP3/Video collections to their phones, something we won't even -dream- of doing. Nevermind the cost, our "broadband" will stutter right through that song too.
