Hi everyone.

I'm a heavy sleeper. It is even worse since I have to drink a cocktail of meds before I go to sleep.

I sleep through my Sleep as Android App and I'm using the Captcha feature which needs my intervention to stop the alarm. The intervention doesn't happen, because I sleep right through the alarm with the alarm tone/song blaring and I just can't seem to wake up.

I'm posting it now since I'm going back to work tomorrow after a 2 week break.
I have however struggled with this throughout most of 2019.

Could anyone help me out that is possibly a heavy sleeper as well?
Could you please suggest a tone/sound/fix to me?

I can't afford a physical alarm clock thats is made for heavy sleepers at the moment.

Thanks guys and girlys.
Have a good day :)

Would you mind sharing what major change happened in the past year for this to happen?

In any case, maybe since sound doesnt help maybe a vibration (one of those cheap R300-R500) smart watches may do the trick?

A watch has no difference.
No major changes happened. I have however had many medication adjustments.
Go to bed earlier.
Doesn't make a difference.
I didn't say I'm going to bed late.

How many hours are you sleeping a night?

Are you using your phone / screens right up until you go sleep?
Using cannabis?

This is out of the scope of a forum, many details are important to get to the bottom of something like this. If you able, since its affecting quality of life? to go to a GP.
There is a sleep clinic where they could perhaps help you. You could try taking your cocktail in the afternoon?

During a normal work week I go to sleep at 22:00 the latest, after taking my meds at 20:00. Meds make me tired so I can't stay awake after 22:00. I usually try to be awake by 5:50, start work at 7:00.

I have talked about the issue with my doctor/psychiatrist, but his advice was to try and relax before bed time, not using my phone too late at night. It doesn't work out this way though.

Connect your phone to a bluetooth speaker and crank the volume.

I use the kill bill whistle ringtone (from the movie's soundtrack) and it triggers something visceral, no chance of sleeping through that adrenalin dump.

Thanks bwana. Don't have a BT speaker, but I'll try the ringtone however until I can get one.
I can't drink my meds earlier. After an hour of taking it I become beyond sleepy and tired. Usually at 22:00 I need to crash.

I doubt that ringtone will have the same effect on you as it does on me but it might be worth a shot.

To get up for work - you may need to crash earlier. Until you get yourself sorted.

Set a routine. Bed time 22h00. Wake up 06h00. Rinse repeat, then just wait for your circadian rhythms to stabilise.

Doctor might be able to prescribe melatonin to assist.

Could you please send me a link for it?
I find a whistle ringtone, but it sounds way too soft and chilled.

I have tried, but it doesn't help.

My opinion is that it is my meds mainly.
The meds have had major adjustments over the last 4 - 5 months. Some days are good, some are bad. I can't change meds again, or other symptoms will creep up again, severe depression, suicidal tendencies and side effects causing me to be sick.

The meds you take sounds like the problem to me, do you have to take them nem? If so you'll have to take them earlier, change the dosage or consult your GP.

Yes, I'm bipolar, so need to take it.
I'm on 2 mood stabilisers and 2 antipsychotics as well as meds to counter side effects.
