Heavy Sleeper - Need some help

Rig a cold water bucket over your head set to trigger on alarm. I'd use some ice with the water to ensure its still nice and cold in the morning.

Could you please send me a link for it?
I find a whistle ringtone, but it sounds way too soft and chilled.

I have tried, but it doesn't help.
Have a friend phone you in the morning for a few days. Your body may get used to it

Meds is the issue imo. They are knocking you out. No alarm clock will wake up a medicated person.

Well what does the sleep tracking say? Surely you're not in deep sleep for 8h? The mi band had an early bird alarm but unfortunately Xiaomi took it out. Must get me one of those fitness trackers again they're brilliant for waking up.
Try Miband tools.

I went to bed just after 22:00. Woke up at 00:05 and 3:30. Managed to wake up before my alarm went off.

I think this is a once off though. I psyched myself up too much yesterday not to oversleep.

I also downloaded an alarm tone yesterday that has insane sound effects of alarms and sirens. So I'm hoping the tone will help going forward.

The meds do knock me out as @Thor said, but hopefully I can manage things better.
I'll try to drink fluids before bed as well, since this is supposed to help in getting up as well.

I need some of your meds! I go on and off Trepiline for cluster headaches and not even those help me sleep.

I have had a bad road with Trepiline. It messed me up bad. To be honest I still believe it (Trepiline) had a major part in my depression that led to my 2 suicide attempts in the past few years. It may have a different effect on other people, but I can't use it and stay sane.

Agreed, downing a bottle of tequila feels a lot better the next morning than taking a trep. Glad you off it.

Don’t take the cocktail to go to sleep? Or time it differently.

Seems the obvious answer to me.

Failing that you need to sleep more and get in bed earlier. Or simply start working later and accept you aren’t a morning person.

I'm not drinking the meds to go to sleep, I drink it because I suffer from Bipolar Disorder.
As I said before, going to bed earlier makes no difference.
I didn't always have this problem, it started this past couple of months since my meds were changed and adjusted.
The only thing in terms of the meds I can do is to allow my body to become accustomed to it.

So speak to the person who adjusted them.

Seems really obvious.

This isn’t a forum discussion, but one you should be having with your doctor.

Might need to simply alter the timing of your drugs.

Is the meds temporary? Stop the meds, fix the real problem you are taking the meds for.
Chronic medication doesn't fix whatever is wrong with you it only suppress the symptoms.

Nothing is black and white, so nothing is obvious in this case.
Once you are in my shoes and actually live with severe side effects, depression and the fact that each medication change comes with it's own hurdles, then you will know what I'm on about. Also, this is a forum discussion. You are not forced to reply in this thread.
I started this thread with regards to better alarm methods or methods to help me wake up properly, I didn't ask for medical advice.

The meds are not temporary and I would have to use it for the rest of my life. So I can't stop it based on the fact that people say it suppresses symptoms. It goes beyond that and after a few years, yes, you do feel "fixed".

As someone on many chronic medications that also affects me drastically I’m in very similar although not exactly the same shoes.

I just can never fathom that people will run to the internet for a solution when there are medical professionals with real track records to help them. More so when they already have those in place and then look for alternatives.

Sometimes the reality is that a problem can’t be fixed.

Likely timing your drugs better will make all the difference. Maybe you can have them later and exactly before bedtime instead of two hours before?

My opinion is that it is my meds mainly.
The meds have had major adjustments over the last 4 - 5 months. Some days are good, some are bad. I can't change meds again, or other symptoms will creep up again, severe depression, suicidal tendencies and side effects causing me to be sick.
Can you go to your boss or HR and explain the situation to them and come to an agreement to perhaps start work a bit later until things are a bit better? Perhaps ask your doctor if they would be willing to write some supporting letter.

I had a cocktail of Calcicard, epilim and Zoloft. For migraines. These would knock me out within 30 minutes of taking them. I would be dopey all the next day. I know you aren't supposed to stop suddenly but I am a bad pill taker. Stopped and decided to have the migraines instead. Not a smart idea but it worked out. Then my migraines changed and I an now supposed to take a different pill - but I forget.

My point - there is very little you can do when those meds take you. Waking was incredibly difficult. So I do sympathise. @The_Mowgs has a very good idea there. Get a letter from your doc and speak to your bosses. Then try and be at work on time most of the time.
