Hedberg had the wrong mindset for Altech: CEO

Some people just can't cut it in the 'real world' where there is accountability for your actions and not an unlimited amount of freedom to waste other people's money.

If you want these 'perks', you have to move to SA's political playground.

Why do companies keep hiring this guys?

Isn't he the one that said 3g is a fad and decided not to invest in one at cell c.

The nice thing about becoming a CEO or a COO in South Africa is that you'll be recycled till your retirement age.

Geez i remember that statement coming out of Cell C and was flabbergasted. If it was him then what a nincompoop and proven correctly at Altech.

Hedberg probably left for the same reason that the other executives (and there are many of them) left Altech, Craig Venter is a very difficult and volatile CEO! No one worth their salt would put up with his Cr@p!

Indeed your statement is correct. But he did also say that he would rather invest in advanced mobile broadband technology which Cell C has done by deploying HSPA+ network.

I am just wondering whether it was necessary for the Altech CEO to issue such a statement about its former COO. I wouldn't be surprised if Hedberg responded with his own version of the story.

This is very unprofessional of Ventor, there was no need to slate Hedberg. Simply stating that they had a difference of opinion or something similar is the thing to do, not to go on about running loss making companies & using government money. Seems to be a lot of bitterness & anger, probably a lot more to the story.

@dbnnet - Just from this alone I'd say Ventor is a price ********

I saw this coming. He did nothing during his tenure at Cell c. Went to telkom where they lost money in the Nigeria Multilinks saga. Came back to Telkom SA and did nothing again. I think i should apply for one of these CEO or COO positions.
