Hellgate London - Cannot play online on EU servers

Tried them both and eventually get an ERROR CONNECTING TO SERVER after spending 15-25 mins downloading files. Is this what EA meant for online fun with HGL? Crappy servers and then still want to charge $10 per month?

EA - stick it where it hurts.

Wont even bother playing the single-player aspect of HGL since I bought the game specially for its online gameplay. Unlike console games one is now tied to the game and cant even trade it in. Thus far my rating of the retail version of HGL is 1/10. :mad:

Anybody else having connection issues with the EU servers?

btw this game is proxy sensitive - make sure you don't have a proxy specified in your InternetExploiter somewhere.

The only notice available is that subscriptions are temporarily disabled. Besides, most of the time the forum wont even let me login with my credentials. lol.

Will try again just now. Sigh.

Hi,

It was announced on their forums that there would be maintenance on their EU server for a few hours today, as well as a new patch that would be available.

It connected again after around 6 PM for me today. Good luck!
 
I honestly dont think its coz of their server downtime or else it wouldnt even start downloading the patch files. I have been trying since Saturday and tonight is my last attempt. If it still doesnt work this game is getting traded in @ Zaps over the weekend.

Honestly I cannot put up with rubbish programming & buggy software released on the PC for which they still honestly believe you are going to pay an additional $10 monthly fee.
 
ROFL! After reading the tip from Vermaak on the SGS forums below and uninstalling & re-installing the game :

If you're having problems getting the patch and an error message comes up Alt tab out, do -NOT- click on the tick. Check your tmp folder ( For those that don't know where it is 'Program Files/Flagship Studios/Hellgate London/tmp' ) and simply wait. Files will start appearing within it, faster than if you were using the game.

After a while (Roughly past 220MB) most of the files will vanish, wait a minute or two and alt tab back to the game. Click on the tick and then re click on multiplayer. There will be a pause, and then it will take you into the game (Or agreement form, depending.) For those that don't see a tmp folder, you must have downloaded a file for it to appear, if you simply can't download the first file, create one in the mentioned category and wait like a hawk after it errors for the file to appear. It should be 2157kb large when finished, this file is the first eg: hellgate_mp_dx9_x86.exe .

I got as far as "CONNECTION ERROR (8-2732). Check your anti-virus or firewall configuration. ERROR CONNECTING TO SERVER."

I have disabled the AV and the Firewall and now its busy processing more files in its download. Hope this works.
 
kalahari gets mine and 4mates copies tomor...suppose that mean thurs is going 2 be a tired day :P
 
ok mine finally worked and i got in
It seems they were patching, kinda dumb to patch during peak times
ms was typically 300-400 ,not bad
However after playinging abit I notice loading issues and my machine froze
Which neva happens
 
Hi guys I'm new to this... can someone please explain htf the multiplayer works?

Maybe I was to eager to get into the game I overlooked this.

there's a Free Online play correct? How do one connect to that?

I've registered my copy and account online what now?

They were patching and performing maintenance during 6 and 9 AM PST on a weekday.

yep, I agree I was playing on iburst last nite... everytime I swing there's about a 2 second delay before a box breaks :(

rofl played last night with 4 mates.

3 of us on DSL were pinging around 600 each (2 of us on 512k) and 400ms (on 1mb) and the 1 dude on iburst had a ping of 300 the whole time!!!

i know madness!

but generally its fine... hgl ftw (esp when i get dsl over fiber :P )
 
got 200-280ms last night on verizon unshaped.
 
I was having problems connecting, couldn't even patch. This worked for me. Still patching so not sure if I'll run into any more problems yet. :)
Although for some reason this solution seems to have messed up Netlimiter..

So far the most widely effective solutions are as follow:

a) Ensure your computer has the correct time and date

b) Go to Start>Run type in cmd and hit enter. At the prompt type in netsh winsock reset then restart your computer.

If neither of these steps work, try repeating B without restarting your computer (a solution that seems to help less people, but since it helped me I have to mention it).

Mine still wont update!

I tried reseting winsock with and without a reboot but it still doesnt help. Mine doesnt mention anything of the 8-2544 error. It just says "Error: Error Connecting To Server". It also takes incredibly long to update. I start downloading the hellgate_mp_dx9_x64.exe file it gets to a maximum of 98%(after about20minutes) then just stops. Some people say it updates in the background, however after the update stops at 98% my router also stops flickering and no data is being transfered. Please help, i really want to play this game online!:mad:

that happened to me 1 or 2 times.. but i just left it and when i came back after a show it was done...
