Hellgate: London

All in all, Hellgate London could have been worse, but is still ultimately a wasted effort. While the game has potential, it simply fails to deliver the requisite depth, and therefore it joins the hoards of other easily passable games, destined for clearance sale near you.

What's the point of even reviewing this? It's OLD!

and ****ed

and not supported any more.

and no servers for the west.

Hellgate: London, R.I.P.

actually it just had one problem; it was released before it was ready. Period. I played it siff on hardcore elite and elite, that was anyways the only way to truly experience hg:l with other people online. Stonehenge was the best; nothing like a run through it and killing of main vain at end.

patch 2.0 was taken from us by bill roper's inability to properly manage the IP- now its in limbo and most properly won't see the west again after hanbitsoft has it and only went with the korea route despite the rebirth rumors for the west....

I can't speak for multiplayer but single player HG:L was excellent for fans of the Diablo genre. The first person combat was exciting and visceral. Much better than the isometric clickfests which characterise traditional entries in the genre, the loot was cool and the enemies are wildly imaginative and varied. The graphics were solid as well.

This would have been a cult hit on the LAN party circuit but flagship took an idiotic approach to multiplayer.

You can get it somewhere for cheap.
I think when a company goes bang, the games they made should become freeware.

i tried and have it,there were 2 many bugs and some enemies level were way 2 high.ending was hard for me

It was an extremely fun game, with almost zero replayability. Sure, once you finish you can do hardcore elite, but its just the same at a higher difficulty. Add that to the fact that every outpost and communications channel had multiple different zones (sometimes hundreds). This made it extremely difficult to find anyone to group with.

EDIT: I played the game from alpha right through to closed Beta. I was extremely dissapointed when it went live they had fixed none of the 'game-breaking' bugs. They simply rushed it too much.

same here, i also was part of the alpha->beta group....

...still; there was nothing like doing a hardcore elite run with some oaks :)
