The best oils to make mayo with are the very ones you think you need to avoid."real" mayo, chock full of seed oil like all the other ones
F right off, we're pretty much at the point of needing to make our own mayo, pesto, humus etc at home to avoid seed oils
Seed oil is used in real mayo? It's real mayo as it uses eggs and 65% oil, lemon or vinegar. All of which Hellmans has. Plus it's not miracle whip or some other salad dressing."real" mayo, chock full of seed oil like all the other ones

Precisely, the best mayos are made with seed oils. The best oils to make mayo with are the very ones you think you need to avoid.
how would you even be able to judge seeing as the alternative essentially does not exist?Precisely, the best mayos are made with seed oils.
There are alternative oils that can be used as long as taste isn't the highest priority.how would you even be able to judge seeing as the alternative essentially does not exist?
or, you know, you can use olive oil which is what mayo was invented with in the first place ...There are alternative oils that can be used as long as taste isn't the highest priority.
Olive oil is one of those I was alluding to.or, you know, you can use olive oil which is what mayo was invented with in the first place ...
far superior taste, hence your "taste not highest priority" quip is simply off baseOlive oil is one of those I was alluding to.
Avo oil, canola oil, coconut oil, peanut oil, sesame, flaxseed, sunflower, olive, walnut, corn, cottonseed and and.how would you even be able to judge seeing as the alternative essentially does not exist?
find me a readily available, mass produced, commercial mayo made with avo oilAvo oil, canola oil, coconut oil, peanut oil, sesame, flaxseed, sunflower, olive, walnut, corn, cottonseed and and.
There are many types of oils, oddly enough the best mayos would be made with mild ones, so avo, soybean, canola etc.
If you like bitter sure, plus nut oils were used as well, not just olive oil. Plus yes seed oil is used for taste as its neutralfar superior taste, hence your "taste not highest priority" quip is simply off base
seed oils are not used for taste, seed oils are used far and wide to cut costs, period
Olive oil is apparently magic.Olive oil is one of those I was alluding to.
Olive oil does not a good mayo make - the taste of it is overpowering.far superior taste, hence your "taste not highest priority" quip is simply off base

Only if you can get it to disappear.Olive oil is apparently magic.
fair enough, that does not change the fact though that every mayo on the shelf is made with canola or other "vegetable oil" not for taste, but purely to cut costsOlive oil does not a good mayo make - the taste of it is overpowering.
NB: That's just my opinion having made a lot of mayo with a lot of different oils.
