Hellmann's - What junk is this?

"real" mayo, chock full of seed oil like all the other ones

F right off, we're pretty much at the point of needing to make our own mayo, pesto, humus etc at home to avoid seed oils
Seed oil is used in real mayo? It's real mayo as it uses eggs and 65% oil, lemon or vinegar. All of which Hellmans has. Plus it's not miracle whip or some other salad dressing.

how would you even be able to judge seeing as the alternative essentially does not exist?
Avo oil, canola oil, coconut oil, peanut oil, sesame, flaxseed, sunflower, olive, walnut, corn, cottonseed and and.
There are many types of oils, oddly enough the best mayos would be made with mild ones, so avo, soybean, canola etc.

find me a readily available, mass produced, commercial mayo made with avo oil

it does not exist, would be an acceptable substitute for the original which is and always will be olive oil

far superior taste, hence your "taste not highest priority" quip is simply off base

seed oils are not used for taste, seed oils are used far and wide to cut costs, period
If you like bitter sure, plus nut oils were used as well, not just olive oil. Plus yes seed oil is used for taste as its neutral
Plus the original has gelatin in it.

Olive oil does not a good mayo make - the taste of it is overpowering.

NB: That's just my opinion having made a lot of mayo with a lot of different oils.

Olive oil is apparently magic.
Only if you can get it to disappear.

fair enough, that does not change the fact though that every mayo on the shelf is made with canola or other "vegetable oil" not for taste, but purely to cut costs

I'd gladly try anything that is not one of those two, alas it does not exist unless you make it yourself
