help a n00b jailbreak

hi guys,

ok I have a few questions, i know it is probably explained in other threads but i want straight answers as i have no idea what i am doing with this

some questions
1 - I beleive there is an "official" Ipad 2 jailbreak now?
2 - is jailbreaking illegal?
3 - will it affect my warranty?
4 - is it completely reversible?
5 - what are the advantages of doing the jailbreak?
6 - will it affect any of my current apps/data

in case you did not see it is an ipad 2, wifi 64gb

2 - Not sure if it is illegal in SA, but it is legal in the US & UK
3 - Nope. Will not void the warranty. If you do need to return the ipad for any reason, just put it into DFU mode before returning it to the store. They will be forced to do a iOS reinstall before they can even test the device
4 - Yes
5 - Probably customization
6 - Nope. This will not affect any of your current apps / data

thanks for the answers,

what is DFU mode and what do you mean by customization? my thoughts on it was apps?
 
DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) this will put the device into a state where everything on it will be deleted and you will be able to restore an original Apple iOS via iTunes.

In terms of customization, you can add new SMS tones, change carrier logo, themes, etc.

And of course apps can be installed via Installous

Jailbreaking your device will open up a whole lot of options for you whether you love using apps/games only or you feel the need to customize your phone to your liking
You will NEVER be sorry, take my word for it :)
 
Personally I'm finding less and less use for it. Pretty much everything I want is built-in. Only thing I *need* it for is Facetime over 3G - hope Apple let you do that in iOS 5.

Personally I prefer 4.3.3 with JB than iOS5.... There's something in the region of 200 new features with iOS5 but I like apps like fackclockup and winterboards noki theme, sbsettings and colorkeyboard, removebackground and 5 row keyboard... some little and some large tweaks and apps that make the iPhone 20% better...
