I'll be coming to SA some time this month *fingers crossed* and need to buy a laptop from there. I've settled on the Lenovo Thinkpad E530 (i3 version) and since I'll need it almost immediately, or withing 3-5 days, I was hoping someone could help me out? :) I checked online and comx/laptop direct are offering it at a pretty throwaway price, but I'm not sure if they'll deliver to where I'll be staying, and as a stranger to the country, I don't want to start travelling across it... Anyway...

  • [ Do they deliver to your home if you don't live in Pretoria?]
  • Are there extra shipping charges if they don't?
  • Is comx reliable? Any stray thoughts on the E530?
  • Should I just get one from the shop, and if I have to, what's the best laptop for around 5000 rand? (I know I can't get the e530 anywhere else at that 5300 so I'm willing to compromise)
Really hope I can get some help, I don't want to buy a laptop from where I am, all I'll get are horrible Toshibas for the equivalent price here in Nairobi :'(. Thanks in advance! :)

If you like Lenovo is your brand of choice, Kalahari is offering a CoreI5 Lenovo L520 for R4999. http://www.kalahari.com/electronics/Lenovo-L520-Notebook/4585/47272116.aspx
They offer free delivery countrywide. I would much sooner recommend them over ComX. I tried to deal with ComX once and they weren't very accommodating or helpful.

Thanks so much for replying. I've been browsing online stores and settled on webantics, but lemme see what's on Kalahari. Thanks again!!

Nice.

Just don't leave it running too long on the bed like that, quick way to fry it by blocking the air intake vents!

Haha, thanks for the tip. I actually slept with it because that's the only place I get my wifi to work. Looking to invest in a router thingy that can at least pick up and boost the signals or something like that.
