Me again :)

Problem as is:

my dad is on the 2gb package with telkom which includes 20gb local his cap died today, but for some reason he can't access any of the local sites. It says Forbidden, access denied by access policy or something like that.

I then removed the tick from the box, which uses custom proxy/vpn in internet explorer options-->connections the proxy was a random ip address with 8080,the port number. This removed the forbidden screen, but just resulted in general ie connection error

reboot the router and the computer :)

Also try clearing his cache.

You are right, the proxy should be disabled when using local.

Also may be an obvious one but nothing is obvious when it comes to tech...

Are you one hundred percent certain the site you are trying to access is really local. Did you check more than one site? Remember not all .co.za sites are local.

Yes lol...

Tried aardvark,take2,proprophecy,newshost etc...

Cleared all temp files, rebooted both pc an router still no luck :(

I know the forbidden screen when trying to access some sites via a proxy.
Try firefox without any proxies - it could be your internet explorer settings somehow.
