I have a Sony HTS with 1 x HDMI, optical audio and coax inputs, one of each.

Into the HTS I connect a PVR, PlayStation and a Medeator. The PVR is connected via coax audio, the PS via optical (Toslink) and the Medeator via standard 2 channel stereo red/ white. The PS does not have a coax out only SPDIF. Unfortunately they all share the same source on the HTS, model is a few years old.

So when they are both plugged in the coax precedes the optical. This is fine for when I wish to watch TV, but when I want to play PS I need to pull out the coax out of the PVR, this then ‘allows’ the optical audio to feed to the HTS from the PS.

Same for the Medeator, I need to pull out the PVR audio in coax to get sound from it.

Is there any way to change the configuration to fix this ?

Thx very much.

Very vague layout explanation.Model name and number of Sony HTS.Go download model handbook and read up on configurations.I did my new sony this weekend.had to read, google and curse as the sales reps were even more clueless as I.

What is using the HDMI - or is that an out?
What if you put the PVR in standby when you use the PS?

Components connected directly via HDMI to TV, so the PVR runs via HDMI direct to TV and PS same (both for video only), TV has only two HDMI ins.

The PVR standby option is an interesting idea that I will explore. Thx very much.

Where exactly would that be fitted ?

Check HDMI switch on takealot. It has 3 inputs and 1 output. It comes with a remote.

1st input: HDMI from pvr decoder
2nd input: HDMI from Home theater pc (laptop)
3rd input: HDMI from ps4 (future)

Output: Samsung av HDMI input

Samsung HDMI output goes to TV
