I use taskmanager to close as much stuff as I can. I open and connect to MTN, I then bleed 100KB/minute WITHOUT having any browser open or doing anything.
Thats 6MB an hour and if im online the whole working day than thats going to be more than a gig lost to nothing a month. Any ideas?! Im using the xp firewall and avgas.

I had a similar problem abd turned off the firewall and used only my Nortons antivirus.

Another thing, sometimes I have noticed large emails in the sent box but they are still being sent. Nortons scans them 1st then sends them a bit later.

I blame Windows Update as well. It might complete after a few a hundred MB and then not bother you much for a week ... but who knows? Go to control panel > system > automatic updates tab > select 'Notify me but don't automatically download or install them'.

Ouch!!

Turned automatic update off, installed zonealarm now im bleeding 600KB per minute help!!

thanks caspa!

172.25.69.131 is in the private IP address range 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x, it does not exist on the internet.
It must be someone on the MTN network hitting you.

true, i only install it when i've got a problem.....then uninstall it again
