As the title states,
I have recently got into the call of duty games and I am finding I suffer lag if Im playing with americans for example. Also I will often shoot someone and yet I manage to be killed, when I then look at the kill cam it shows me barely opening fire.
I originally was using sky's free broadband and never had this problem, or noticed it with forza motorsport. I then contacted sky to upgrade and I found out that its the upload speed that matters? I was running at 254kps I think it was and now after upgrading to the 8meg connection I am running at 340 ish - pretty poor considering the average is 450 ish? Sky offer the 16meg package but the sky broadband technician said there was no point in getting this as I live quite far from the exchange and until bt upgrade the lines the 340 is the best I can get.
My mate then gave me a link to adsl who I sent/received this following email:
Hi Terry
Sky use their own LLU platform and therefore are able to cap or manage the upload speed they offer each line. We offer two packages, Home and Office. The Home packages all come with 448k upload as standard and the Office packages come with 832k upload as standard. Even with an upload of 448k you should not notice much lag - it's more likely to be caused by Sky having "Interleaving" turned on for your line - which you can't change. On our system we allow you to turn this option off to enable much better game play and lower latency/pings.

Dear sir madam, I am currently using skys broadband package. I had the free service then upgraded to the 8meg a month due to online gaming. However my upload speed is still very poor and as a result I suffer online at time with lag etc. Sky said there was no point upgrading to the fastest package as I am far away from the server and can't get any quicker than I do just now. I think they said it was 340kps which I heard was poor as some people run up to 750? Can you tell me if its possible to improve? Im tied with sky until January so it wouldn't be until then that I require this
Thanks
Terry
I can't really afford to spend alot on a monthly package and Im wondering if it is in fact possible/worthwhil to switch from sky? Im not bothered about downloading as I dont do this much anyway. As a point I notice my internet connection is still poor even though sky said I would now download material at 6-8 meg. Can anyone recommend as provider/solution - bar moving house
Thanks for any replys
Terry
