Help car mirror

I wouldn't do that if I were you. For the Caddy bus at work somebody replaced the glass with one that was cut, doesn't look the same at all. All car mirrors are expensive nowadays, you should replace with an original if you can.

Yes because vehicle mirrors are plastic based whereas the mirror specialists do glass.

Also the mirrors themselves have a hardened plastic border which gives it the distinctive vehicle mirror look.

The cheapest option would be to make a template, get a makeup mirror from the China Mall, cut it a with a blade and stick it over the existing cracked mirror.

Not pretty but you'll be saving a pretty penny until you decide to sell.

Guys, car rear view mirrors are NOT flat. They are curved. A flat mirror gives you a really narrow field of view, and it's pretty damned dangerous.

The second you look at that mirror you will know it's not the real thing, just looks different.

Exactly which explains why the mirrors are plastic based which makes them more malleable.
However with the introduction of blind side mirrors the narrow field of view becomes moot.

Considering how many features are incorporated into these mirrors you would expect them to be expensive. Powered, heated and auto dimming and sometimes with integrated indicators.
Using accept that. It's Damn glass just with a tiny heating element. The housing is actually the same price.
If you look overseas on eBay it's like maybe 20 pounds

R3K is cheap for the whole thing. To replace a land rover mirror including glass is R10K, for ONE! Thats just an electrically adjustable heated mirror. No blind spot warning light, no puddle light, no wading depth sensor, no indicator, no camera.

If you only need the heated glass, that would only cost you R1.1K

No, it doesn't.
Even with a blindspot mirror, I still had massive blind spots on the left of the car.

Time to get those eyes tested. The physics gaurantees perfect peripheral vision from mirrors as long as original mirror is set correctly.

This was not the original mirror, remember. This was a piece of flat glass. In fact, I think it may even have been convex - I could count the nosehairs on the driver of the car behind me.

How long did it take for it to get to SA?

I bought roof racks from a dealership in the UK last month. Placed my order late on a Monday afternoon, and had them with me before lunch the on the Tuesday a week later. Would have been less than a week if I didn't live out in the sticks. In fact, it would probably have taken Mazda a week to get them from the factory down to my dealership, and then I'd still have had to drive into town to collect.

Darn it. Really? I ordered an exhaust braket from Audi 2 weeks ago. I called today and the guy said I should get it between the next two days.

Hmm I didn't expect you to drive a Lexus.

I expected a bakkie : ranger, amorok, hilux etc.

Unless you want Ockie to beat you up with his handbag I would suggest you stop trying pick up lines on his man :p
