For Uber working on a R5 base fare plus R7.50 per KM, with 21.6 working days a month and 7km to work, that's:

21.6 x 2 x (5 + (7.5 x 7)) = ~R2,484 per month

Where can you find Uber fares? I've tried looking at their website but couldn't find anything useful, and stopped short of installing the app because it wanted my credit card details and I'm not sure if I'm even going to use it yet, until I know how much it costs.

Here yo go, breakdown of fares for the respective vehicles (Uber X, Black and Van): https://www.uber.com/cities/johannesburg#

I'm going to be in the Cape for a week (and that's why I'm looking at Uber), but that looks far more fun than Uber. :)

Although packing my own spanners might push me over the weight limit on the flight down.

If you can't fix 90% of the problems on a volksie with nothing but some duct tape and a pocket knife you should not drive one

So thinking

Getz
Atoz
Corsa
Fiesta
Honda
Yaris

No bakkies or VWs to be hijacked in
No old money pit skadonks
No township specials

What else should i look at?

Late 90's to 2000's

Any of these should sell fairly easily if you price it attractively.

Your can get the bubble shape Corsa's for less than 50k. Possibly even in GSi Trim.

What about a Monza? The only problem would be finding one because they get sold so quickly.

Do you specifically need one from the Gauteng area or is getting it from CT/elsewhere a possibility?
