So I’m struggling to narrow the list as I’m looking into buying a good second hand car. My budget is R120 000 and maximum 100km. Obviously with my budget I don’t think I can get a newer model but at least 2015 going up. Safety and realiabilty is a big thing for me as it’s a first car.

Hyundai i10

Yaris, Kia Rio, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz, I know, they are not too big.

A car is a tool that goes far beyond just taking you from point A to B, it always help to have a decently sized car.

Agree with this. the notch up in space/safety/features will most likely make you keep it even longer.

Other than that all very solid choices.

one thing to note, KIA/Hyundai has unbeatable factory warranty durations.

120k and 2015 model.. the hondnaai/kia warranty wont matter as he will struggle to get a good condition one in that price range that still has a year or 2 left on the warranty.

..and the newer i20's only has 2 airbags regardless of spec which is rather bad. (the old pre 2012 models had more). Latest style ones has more but way out of his budget

I am sure for your R120 000 budget, you can get a decent clean i20 with low mileage year 2012-2015

Looks like you did your research . This is a solid list of reliable cars so i dont think you can go wrong with either of these brands .

Since this happens to be your first car, you should post some pics of it so that we can verify whether you were sold, for example, an i10 with an i20 badge, or a real i20.
