R120 000 for a 1st car?
Jinne you Okes are rich, my first car was an Opel Kadett Cub 1.3l for R6500 and had 220 000km on the clock, I drove it until it had 330 000km on the clock before selling it to buy a ticket to go live in UK

Since this happens to be your first car, you should post some pics of it so that we can verify whether you were sold, for example, an i10 with an i20 badge, or a real i20.
I doubt it. I’m sure the Hyundai branch I took it for service would have told me

Congrats! The Hyundai engines are quite durable, and should last you many happy miles.

You'll just have to get used to the dashboard rattles

You joke but when I was a bit younger, my 'sound system' was a big Wharfedale HiFi speaker that someone threw out. I installed it on my back seat and hooked it up to the amp. I'm sure the speaker was worth more than the car itself was
I can totally relate, we all used whatever was lying atound and often used hifi speakers from home.
It worked like a bomb

Thank you for all your advices finally got myself an i20 and I’m happy with my choice.

I was about to say get a neat i20. Good choice - I got one at 90 000km for my nephews university run-around car and he's happy with it - 3 years now.

Totally.

I used a car battery hooked up to a 12v DC charger, powering a bigass old car amp that ran 2x12" JBL subs and 2 Sony 6-by-9's. Rattled my windows off.

Now if it was the car of the year edition, then, you could've sold it for 10 times that. Granted, you had to prove that it could literally go from CT to JHB and that the aircon works, but that should surely be possible.

Also, the CoTY thread seems to have bit the dust... Was it murdered in the migration?

Nooit, mine never had air con, I don't think that appeared on the 1300 models, maybe the 1600
And mine was a 4 speed
No headrests
Black bumpers, not colour coded either like the Opel Kadett GLX's or whatever models they were called
Manual windows front and back
No tinted smash and grab windows
zero ABS
no airbags
Manual ****ing choke to pull out to idle that bitch in the mornings
13" steel rims
Ask @Rouxenator , he was also there

The struggle was real back then, not the fancy toys kids buy for a 1st time car
