Can someone please enlighten me on exactly how cap and uncapped worked.
I know that when I exceed my international 1gig I get capped and automatically go onto telkoms 10gig local. What I'm trying to find out is what happens if I then buy another 1gig while I have already used some of the local 10gig. Do I go back to the 1g international first and after that back to the balance of the local or must I use up the local 1st before I can use the newly purchased international 1gig

Hope this question make sense.

When you purchase an additional 1gb from telkom it kicks in immediately - once its gone you revert back to local only.

My advice is get a second account - perhaps pay as you go from Axxcess or Web Africa and then splitting your local and international traffic.

Agreed - however you normally need to reconnect before the additional blended bandwidth starts running. Also realize that buying additional topup does not increase your local only allowance which remains at 10GB.

A better option is buying prepaid from WA or Access when you become capped then you can alternate between your local only Telkom account and international prepaid at will. Currently I am using an ISP in Potchefstroom that is reselling WA prepaid at only R33 per Gig which I do not understand how they can do but I have used about 15G from them over the past 2 months without any hassle.

Thanks for the quick response. One question I am using a telkom ADSL router. Will I be able to use prepaid from some other compant with this router and how will I set it up. Sorry but I'm very stupid with this sort of thing

The ADSL router is not bound to any ISP, you can use any South African ISP's login and password on a Telkom ADSL line. This may change in the verrrrry far off future, when we get another ADSL provider, but currently Telkom is the only ADSL provider, and all the ADSL ISP's use Telkom.
